Event Description
Ya say you wanna a revolution? Well, if so, it will take place at the historic Battle of Ramsour's Mill site in Lincolnton on Saturday, May 19, and Sunday, 20, 2012. Hosted by the Lincoln County Historical Association and Lincoln County Historic Properties Commission, and sponsored by Lincoln County and the City of Lincolnton, the Battle of Ramsour's Mill event offers a unique trip back to the summer of 1780, when a small band of local Patriots surprised a formidable group of Loyalists on a hill near downtown Lincolnton and change the course of the American Revolution. Activities at this year's event include the unveiling of a Carolina Thread Trail Marker at the new kayak access on Clark's Creek at the Ramsour's Mill site, historic tours of the site's historic resources, battle reenactment, portrayals of Lord Cornwallis and Banastre Tarleton by Howard Burnham, a "Fourth Wall" program by re-enactors, a presentation on the history of the battle by Daniel W. Barefoot, and a Ghost Walk on Saturday night lead by Daniel W. Barefoot. Admission is free to the public.
