CAPS in September

CAPS has started off the month of September in very busy fashion. A private home investigation on the 1st, followed by a private commercial location investigation on the 8th, will keep us in the Lincolnton, NC area during the first part of the month.

On the 15th, we’ll be in North Wilkesboro, NC to investigate the old jail. On the 16th, CAPS Spirit Remediation Team has a consultation in Charlotte.  And on the 19th, this same team will travel to Vale, NC for a consultation.

On the 22nd, we’ll travel to Mansfield, OH. In Ohio, we’ll investigate the Bissman Building as seen on the tv show, My Ghost Story. Lorraine Warren has been there and says there is a portal here where “things” come and go. Ghost Hunters has investigated here as well. We’ll be sure to post any evidence we get.

We’ll be back in Charlotte at the end of the month to host the Charlotte Ghost Trackers Meetup investigation on Saturday the 29th. This investigation will be in the Charlotte, NC area. On Sunday the 30th, we’ll hold the Charlotte Paranormal Believers Meetup Discussion Group. If you’re going, please note the meeting starts at 5PM in order to allow for the end of the Panthers football game. Both of these events are listed on www.meetup.com. Please go here for more information or to sign up.

CAPS also guided the August 25th Meetup investigation in the Rock Hill, SC area, and held the August 26th Paranormal Discussion at our usual location.

The Spirit Rescue Team welcomes three new members: Jean Lande, Janet Orr and Rose McArdle, each with their own unique qualifications.  This team has also been busy with consultations and spirit remediation.

Like Nascar? Want to Help the Hungry?

AARP Million Meals packing event. We need 3000 volunteers for this so, if you could open it up to the meetup and yahoo groups that would be awesome.
Volunteers will get the opportunity to pack a million meals for seniors living in poverty. The event will take place May 24 – 25 at the Charlotte Convention Center and will be coordinated by Second Harvest Food Bank. Celebrity Race Car Driver Jeff Gordon will be there packing meals and will be working side by side with the volunteers for this event.
AARP and AARP Foundation, in collaboration with the charitable organization Outreach, Inc., are bringing together thousands of volunteers over the course of two days with a goal to package one million nutritious meals through Drive to End Hunger. Be a part of this extraordinary effort to help fight older adult hunger in your community and across North Carolina. The meals packaged will help feed older people in North Carolina. Together we can leave hunger in the dust.
Jeff Gordon, four-time NASCAR Cup Series Champion and driver of the #24 Drive to End Hunger Chevrolet, will be at the Convention Center on Thursday 5/24 to participate. Also participating are tennis legend Martina Navratilova on Thursday 5/24 and Friday 5/25, and Host of CBS NFL TodayJames “JB” Brown on Friday 5/25.
All participating volunteers will receive a t-shirt at check-in, on the day of the event.
Please consider volunteering for this event!

Meetup on May 19th - Public Event - The Battle of Ramsour's Mill Reenactment

Battle of Ramsour's Mill Reenactment

Time: May 19, 2012 at 10am to May 20, 2012 at 4pm

Location: Ramsour's Mill Battleground

Street: 301 Jeb Seagle Road

City/Town: Lincolnton

Event Description

Ya say you wanna a revolution? Well, if so, it will take place at the historic Battle of Ramsour's Mill site in Lincolnton on Saturday, May 19, and Sunday, 20, 2012. Hosted by the Lincoln County Historical Association and Lincoln County Historic Properties Commission, and sponsored by Lincoln County and the City of Lincolnton, the Battle of Ramsour's Mill event offers a unique trip back to the summer of 1780, when a small band of local Patriots surprised a formidable group of Loyalists on a hill near downtown Lincolnton and change the course of the American Revolution. Activities at this year's event include the unveiling of a Carolina Thread Trail Marker at the new kayak access on Clark's Creek at the Ramsour's Mill site, historic tours of the site's historic resources, battle reenactment, portrayals of Lord Cornwallis and Banastre Tarleton by Howard Burnham, a "Fourth Wall" program by re-enactors, a presentation on the history of the battle by Daniel W. Barefoot, and a Ghost Walk on Saturday night lead by Daniel W. Barefoot. Admission is free to the public.

The National Association of Letter Carriers annual "Stamp Out Hunger" food drive will be held May 12 this year.

Residents are asked to leave a sturdy bag of nonperishable items (canned foods, pasta, rice, cereal, peanut butter, etc.) next to their mailboxes prior to mail delivery. Letter carriers will collect the items as they deliver mail along
their postal routes. Donated food will be delivered to local pantries.

It's the 20th year that letter carriers have held their food drive. In 2011
carriers nationwide collected 70.2 million pounds of food, according to NALC President Fredric Rolando.

"For two decades now, our annual national drive has proved critical in helping
millions of American families — our customers — who are struggling to make ends meet," he said.

The drive is held every year on the second Saturday in May.  "Sixteen percent of all Americans are at risk of hunger — uncertain where their next meal may be coming from. That includes 1 in 5 children under the age of 18, plus 4 million seniors who are forced every day to choose between paying a
utility bill and buying food," he said.

Providing branches and volunteers a boost are the drive's official sponsors: the
National Rural Letter Carriers' Association, Campbell Soup Company, Valpak, U.S. Postal Service, United Way, AFL-CIO, Feeding America, Uncle Bob's Self-Storage and AARP.

Questions regarding the food drive should be directed to NALC Director of
Community Services Linda Giordano at (202) 662-2489 or at giordano@nalc.org.

CAPS Personnel volunteer their services to be stationed at the post office to gather this food from the carriers, sort, box up and load onto trucks going to the pantries.

Please help us help your neighbors by placing donated food by your
mailboxes on Saturday - May 12th! A very simply way to make a diffference in
the lives of those who are hungry in our community!!

Thank you,
Tina R. McSwain, Founder & Director

ConCarolinas 2012 - Blood Drive

Tina R. McSwain, CAPS Founder & Director, will again be a guest at ConCarolinas
for the 2012 edition. As a matter of fact, we will post the special CAPS
discount rate that any of you may use to purchase advanced discounted passes for
the event.

We are so excited to announce our involvement in ConCarolinas 2012! They will once again be hosting a blood drive at ConCarolinas to help give back to the community. Their security director, Luis Diaz, works for the American Red Cross and will be organizing the blood drive again. Last year they had over 50 people donate. Thanks to all who helped make their first blood drive a success!

This year the blood drive will be on Saturday, June 2nd from 11:00am to 1:30pm.
To allow you to spend as little time as possible at the blood drive and more
time at the convention, when you check in you will give them your cell phone
number. Yhey will try to let you know how long the wait is. If it is going to be
a lengthy wait then you can go and check out the con and when your number gets
called they will call you to let you know they are ready for you.

What's the benefit of donating at the ConCarolinas blood drive? Besides helping
people in need, as an incentive to donate each person who donates will be given
a raffle ticket. At the end of the drive several prizes, including a brand new
XBox 360, will be raffled off to some lucky donors.

There is one thing that we need to do to make this a huge success. The American
Red Cross will not commit to being at ConCarolinas unless we can get at least 30
people to pre-register for the drive. Anything less than 30 and they won't come.
If you are interested in donating and would like to pre-register, please email
me your name, phone number and email address. The phone number and email will
only be used to remind you as the drive draws near and will not be given to
anyone outside of the American Red Cross.

Please check out this web page if you are a first time donor...
http://www.redcrossblood.org/donating-blood/first-time-donors

Please check out this web site to view donation FAQ's...
http://www.redcrossblood.org/donating-blood/donation-faqs

Please check out this web page to view eligibility requirements...

http://www.redcrossblood.org/donating-blood/eligibility-requirements/eligibility\
-criteria-topic

You can also go to http://www.redcrossblood.org to get more info on blood
donating.

I know with everyone's help we can make the Blood Drive at ConCarolinas 2012 a
huge success!

Thank you and see you in June,
